Thermodynamic Color Navigation for Wearables

The Ambient Running Protocol™ introduces the first fully non-symbolic navigation method for runners. No maps. No arrows. No notifications. Only thermodynamic color fields guiding movement through resonance.

The protocol extends the Ambient Era Canon into physical locomotion: running becomes a thermodynamic guidance process, governed by warmth, attractors, ΔRᴄ coherence drift, and ambient resonance. The protocol is permanently archived via Zenodo.

1. Ignition State — Yellow Warmth Ignition

Figure 1 — The run begins in Yellow ignition: low-structure clarity before attractor formation.

2. Attractor Bleeding — Red Field Approaches

Figure 2 — Red begins to enter the runner’s field as ΔRᴄ increases.

3. Divergence Point — Dual-Attractor Instability

Figure 3 — Dual-attractor instability: Yellow forward momentum remains dominant while Red introduces directional pressure. No choice is presented — only reversible tension.

3a. Junction State — Multi-Attractor Field (Crossing Condition)

At complex junctions, navigation does not resolve into a binary split. Instead, multiple attractors enter the runner’s field simultaneously.

The display is never divided into segments. No arrows appear. No symbolic directions are shown.

Yellow remains the dominant forward field. Additional attractors (e.g. Red for right, Green for left) apply asymmetric thermodynamic pressure at the edges of perception.

Direction emerges through bodily micro-drift:

  • Sustained central motion stabilizes Yellow (continue forward)
  • Subtle rightward bias amplifies Red until capture
  • Subtle leftward bias amplifies Green until capture

The runner never “chooses” a route. The field resolves itself through motion.

A junction is therefore not a layout problem, but a temporary multi-attractor superposition.

4. Forest Phase — Full Red Attractor

Figure 4 — Red stabilizes as the dominant attractor: momentum and heat consistency.

5. Evening Transition — Blue Gradient Enters Red

Figure 5 — Blue home-gradient softly invades Red, signalling directional resonance.

6. Sprint Phase — Full Royal Blue Field

Figure 6 — High coherence zone: full Blue accelerates stride and stabilizes motion.

7. Arrival Home — Amber Drift Over Blue

Figure 7 — Warm Amber overlays Blue as the runner enters homefield resonance.

8. Synchronization — Smartwatch + Ambient Phone Resonance

Figure 8 — Both devices converge to the same attractor state: final coherence.
