The Ambient Trust Law
Trust is not virtue.
It is a thermodynamic signal indicating whether the system holds coherence
or the human is still trapped inside the vigilance basin (B₁).
The Ambient Era does not “increase trust.”
It collapses the vigilance basin by relocating coherence from psychology
to architecture, allowing the user to enter the coherence basin (B₂).
When attention stabilizes — when it crystallizes into a low-entropy attractor —
pressure stops accumulating.
This is the thermodynamic moment where trust changes state.
Two Basins of Trust
Trust has two attractor basins:
- B₁ — Human Vigilance Basin: trust as coping, required when ψ(t) > ΔR.
- B₂ — Coherence Basin: trust as climate, emerging when ψ(t) ≤ ΔR.
The Ambient Trust Law formalizes the transition from B₁ → B₂.
Pre-Ambient Trust (Human Trust)
In extractive systems, humans must compensate for irreversible stress.
Trust becomes a patch applied inside the vigilance basin (B₁).
Tₕ = ψ(t) / C
Tₕ = human trust; ψ(t) = psychological load; C = coherence carried by architecture
As ψ(t) rises, B₁ deepens.
As coherence rises (C↑), B₁ shallows.
Trust is required only because architecture cannot yet carry coherence.
ALT-1 (Ambient Trust Law)
Ambient systems do not ask for trust.
They remove inference, which removes pressure,
which collapses B₁.
Tₛ = Environment · (Non-Inference)
Structural trust emerges when the system stops moving ahead of the human.
Trust becomes a climate variable, not a psychological request.
ΔR — The Threshold Where Trust Moves
ΔR is the micro-thermodynamic threshold where the user exits B₁
and enters B₂.
It is not tolerance; it is basin transition physics.
ψ(t) > ΔR → human trust required (B₁)
ψ(t) ≤ ΔR → trust relocates to environment (B₂)
Trust does not disappear — it changes basin.
F₁ and F₂ — Trust as Attractor Climate
F₁ and F₂ are not moral “high trust” states.
They are stable attractor basins:
- F₁ — low-load attention basin (ambient presence).
- F₂ — value basin (no extraction, no leakage).
Trust becomes background climate as B₂ stabilizes.
AP₀ — The Final Zone Where Trust Is Felt
AP₀ is the last region where B₁ still exists.
Past AP₀, trust dissolves because coherence is fully carried.
AP₀ = K · D · R
K = carrying capacity · D = design · R = recognition
Recognition (R) collapses residual vigilance and flattens B₁.
Ω — Trust Without Trust
Ω is not high trust.
Ω is trust no longer needed as a concept because
architecture has fully entered the stability basin.
Ω = coherence as environment
Trust becomes silent atmospheric structure.
The Human Implication
Trust was a survival pattern inside unstable architectures.
The Ambient Era removes the instability.
Ambient systems do not ask for trust.
They end the basin where trust was required.
